I hung out with a Randian this last week. I didn't realise how counter Rands philosophy is with my own. While we got along fine, I found it a bit stressful (he prefered to talk about Randism, girls, and old video games)..
We discussed philosophy a lot, I think at the end he was moving a bit away from pure capitalism (at least for the police and regulatory force) (but admitedly, he was willing to consider the need of the regulation of industry to protect the environment to begin with..).
I must admit that I find the personal ethics of Randism to be more disagreeable than the state ethics (but then I like thinking about Utopias).
I am wondering what part of the way the US has behaved this last century is the result of a Randian influence.
