I don't think this alone makes the world messed up. I still see the beautiful things, sun rises, glimmering lakes, the cool breeze on a warm day, the smell of smog (yes, that's exciting to me because I rarely smell it, stupid clean air!), animals running in the nature, dogs, cats, birds etc etc. Endless examples of the good old perfect world.

Then there are even good things in humans sometimes too. Sometimes, humans bond together in times of stress. You see people helping complete strangers, you see them risking their lives just to save someone else and things like that. Rarely, but it still happens.

Majority, however, are still jerks. I have stopped liking people a long time ago. That's why I've said for the longest time I like dogs more than I like people. I could shoot people all day long.

So.. what is there to do. Arm yourself. Arm yourself to the teeth. Be ready, be ready to face the end and take as many as you can with you! Oh, and enjoy the nature.

Yes, it isn't this planet or universe. They are things of true beauty. It is humanity...they are a horrible bunch really.

I gotta give Rufus the prize for the best reply to the thread. It's funny because it's so true, and the 'play dodgeball' got me laughing. I remember being the last guy on my side a few times and being the poor bastard on the recieving end of excellent enemy strategy. I think all those guys went on to be major league pitchers while I started waking up at night in a cold sweat...

Rufus, don't you find the Phils to be unlike 7th grade? Do you know what I mean?

Yeah, the Phils are more like the imagined children in your opening post. Nice as hell, really warm, really loving and trusting, full of a sense of play -- just like a little kid.

But...

With no attention span, no focus on detail, no ability to think beyond the short term, no ability to follow rules, and a firm belief that they will always be forgiven, no matter how badly they behave -- just like a little kid.

What's weird is that that's not true of Filipinos once they leave the Philippines; I guess the tone is set at the top, and certainly the top of this country -- the ruling elite -- behave like a bunch of spoiled, squabbling little kids.

better than the 9th grade. The difference is I don't have to live in a household with lots of fighting.

Not being anywhere near Manila is a big plus too. Alot of Philipinos from Manila never go home because it was so miserable for them there. Philipinos from Bohol do go home, they love their lives they left behind and only did so for economic reasons. I love Bohol, it feels right.
