Double Amputee climbs everest...and passes by dying man w/o helping.
Yes, if you are a male who isn't elderly you should probably stop on the side of the road if the person looks to be in trouble (health wise). Everyone else can pull over and stay in the car...then call on their cells if they need it.

Hmm. The argument that they had not enough equipment to take care of him in camp four can't stand. The guy had to come from camp four, thus his own equipment was probably still there.
I don't wish to judge these people (and I don't even know exactly what the situation was) but I thought I'd point that out.
From what I understand, the real challenge is to make it to the top without oxygen. Now if someone was climbing with oxygen and did not help him, that's another story.
Well, what I was getting at is that he's a moron who lost his legs mountain climbing, and then goes back to mountain climbing. You'd think he would have learned.

Their camp four - not his. This isn't Matterhorn with tourist stops at interesting spots - You bring your own stuff to establish the different camps - they probably hadn't any idea of where his camp was.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
the matterhorn doesnt have tourist stops at interesting spots. its got one cabin a bit up the mountain (hörnli hut) and one near the top in case of emergencies.
the matterhorn is also one of the deadliest mountains in the world. I think more people have died on it than any other.

I'm not sure, and I'll google it to check, but I thought the camps were permanent???

"I thought you must be dead ..." he said simply. "So did I for a while," said Ford, "and then I decided I was a lemon for a couple of weeks. A kept myself amused all that time jumping in and out of a gin and tonic."

I knew that in the moment I pressed the button - it was a bad example.
Though, unless I'm wrong, then the reason that matterhorn is so deadly, then it's because of the climbing difficulty - not the height as on Everest.

Everest has no huts period. More people die on the Matterhorn only because many more people attempt to climb it.

Most people. Strike that, the vast majority of people.

no, the matterhorn is deadly because its only rated as an AD- i think. which means many beginners and tourists go up its razor sharp flank without guides and in t shirts and jeans. and then when they fall off, they wonder.
