My wife and I just finished watching North Country. This is a fabulous film, easily one of the best from last year. I was wondering why it wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award, and then it struck me. The Academy wasn't going to give any awards to a film about sexual harrassment and calling those who complained "sluts," whores and the like, and threatening their jobs. That would bring up the ugly memories of the Clinton administration at a time when Hollywood needs to buff up the Clinton rep and further Bash Bush.
When I said this, my wife began to denouce Lewinsky and Paula Jones once again, calling them sluts. Then I asked about all the other women who accussed Clinton as well. I asked her, could they all be lying sluts?
She had just see a film where the women were defamed when they spoke out. But when the topic of Bill Clinton came up, she did it herself.
So what is this magic hold that Bill seems to have on so many Americans that they will engage in some of the worst human behavior there is, defaming victims of sexual assault and abuse, to defend this man?
