They lost their historical homeland to the albanians

Que? Historical in what sense? Albanians are thought to be descended from Illyrians who inhabited the whole of modern Yugoslavia in Roman times. Slavs -- Russians and Czechs and Serbs and such -- were still mucking around in Polish marshes at the time. By that logic, all of Yugoslavia belongs to Albanians.

Historical isn't worth a dingo's kidneys. What matters are the current circumstances, not what lead to them.

I vote for 'ne'. 19th Century Pan-Slavism makes a whole lot more sense to me. Proliferation of mini-states is silly.

I have an idea. All the French Canadians could move to Montenegro thus killing two birds with one stone.

Not needed. They are quite capable of screwing themselves without any help from us.

Kosovo actually used to be mostly Serb, but the Albanians retained a higher birth rate, leading to them becoming the majority.

Yugoslavia failed because it was on the boarders of three civilizations, Western Christian (Slovenia and Croatia), Orthodox Christian (Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia), and Islam (Bosnia). You should read The Clash of Civilizations by Samuel Huntington, it gives a good argument why such states are not viable unless by the iron fist of a strongman despot like Tito.

Depends what you really consider as important, I guess.

Nah, Samuelson is wrong in his analysis. Yugoslavia didn't break up because it lied on fault lines of "civilizations". It broke up because it was not a democracy, wasn't economically successful and consisted of various nations whose nationalism was suppressed by the communists. If European Union was realized by force, say by Hitler, you'd see it breaking up from inside at some point despite all countries being a part of same western "civilization".
