  • You can't live together if you're not married!

    Get married or get out!

BLACK JACK, Missouri (AP) -- The City Council has rejected a measure allowing unmarried couples with multiple children to live together, and the mayor said those who fall into that category could soon face eviction.
Makes me want to laugh... and cry.
    What?

Olivia Shelltrack and Fondrey Loving were denied an occupancy permit after moving into a home in this St. Louis suburb because they have three children and are not married.

The town's Planning and Zoning Commission proposed a change in the law, but the measure was rejected Tuesday by the City Council in a 5-3 vote.

"I'm just shocked," Shelltrack said. "I really thought this would all be over, and we could go on with our lives."

The current ordinance prohibits more than three people from living together unless they are related by "blood, marriage or adoption." The defeated measure would have changed the definition of a family to include unmarried couples with two or more children.
They fail to mention if the kids are his, hers, or both
If they had the kids together than it seems like they aren't breaking the law because they would be "blood"

They just need to sell off two of the kids. Simple problem solved.

The original law is actually intended (or orginally intended) to prevent things like frat houses or sororities... though they've gone a bit far in interpretation.

Maybe the kids are her's but not his.

Regardless: the city had an opportunity to reverse the law or modify it to adapt to a changing reality and chose not to. That's retarded.

I can see that. It probably has a reason to exist. The problem is with the refusal of the city to change it when presented with the opportunity. They'll wish they had in a couple of days methinks.

We need to protect family values.

The country will burn up in flames and then sink into the ocean by the wrath of God if we allow single people to live together without being married.

                    Er, wait a minute . . . . . . hasn't this already been happening anyway?

Not to mention in legally questionable areas. I'm sure there has to be a way to challenge a law which says a couple must be married before they're living together.

King of Swamp Castle: One day, lad, all this will be yours.

                            Prince Herbert: What, the curtains?

King of Swamp Castle: No, not the curtains, lad. All that you can see, stretched out over the hills and valleys of this land! This'll be your kingdom, lad.

                            Prince Herbert: But Mother -

King of Swamp Castle: Father, lad. Father.

Prince Herbert: But Father, I don't want any of that.

King of Swamp Castle: Listen, lad. I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here, all there was was swamp. Other kings said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So, I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, THEN sank into the swamp, but the fourth one stayed up! And that's what you're gonna get, lad. The strongest castle in these islands.

Right, Christians aren't trying to force everyone to live by their rules.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
