I support Salford City Reds as I grew up there. FC United of Manchester as I used to support Man Utd and as a result of Glazer.

I support the Skins because of my family and geography. The Ravens came later and "invaded" Redskins territory, so I "hate" them.

Other than that I just root for the team with the coolest looking uniform.

When I was a kid, all and everyone in my school where fans of IFK Gothenburg (UEFA-cup winners twice in the 80s), so I went for the cooler club GAIS instead. 'cause IFK is disco, GAIS is rock n' roll!

They have a rich history and are the only non English team to have won the FA Cup in 1927, beating Arsenal! (OK, that was a long time ago... )

Anyway, lately they recently got promoted to the Championship (the league below the Premiership) and almost got into the playoffs this season.

They have a great manager in Dave Jones and a decent, young team - expect them to be in the fight for promotion into the Premiership next season...

Oh and they have sort of become the feeder club for West Ham, seeing as we've taken about 3-4 players from them in the last couple of years.
Heh, just saw this. I did say "for a very long time." I'm very much aware of the Cup victory in 1927.

I'm also aware that they're one division below the Premiership, which is quite good, especially for Cardiff. Every time I talk to my Dad, he tells me how "City" is doing.

The "feeder club" thing seems like a problem. They have to sell off their better players. But hey, it would be great if they made the Premiership...and maybe eventually get to the point where they could keep their players. Go Cardiff!

I back the Falcons because, well, I live in Atlanta. I also like the Jets because they were my team up in Jersey. Though before I get jumped on for switching team allegiances, I've always been a fan of the sport of American football over individual teams. I root for certain teams, but that doesn't mean I'll "support" them (to the extent there is a distinction).

In baseball, it's a bit clearer, I do like the league, but I also consider myself a Mets fan foremost. I also like the San Fran Giants, and I guess one reason is they used to play in NY (and its why the Mets have brown in their unis) and I got into a sort of San Fran kick in the 80s and early 90s (I rooted the 49ers as well, and still would like them to do well).

In hockey, I'm a Devils fan. I'm from Jersey, and they are a New Jersey team. That's good enough for me .

In soccer, I'm a Newcastle United fan. Not as a result of some relative liking them (though my first cousin did say he rooted for Newcastle, albeit wasn't that into football), but because they had Alan Shearer and he was my favorite player. Since I only paid any attention to the EPL (or club soccer in general) after '96, there was only one choice.

I also support for the US Men's National Soccer Team, for obvious, patriotic reasons, since 1994 at least. That doesn't mean I just want them to do well, but I follow them and familarize myself with who is on the squad and can make relatively intelligent sounding statments on formations and players.

IIRC we even got their fitness coach and physio about the same time we got Gabbidon and Collins - I was so happy we got hold of Gabbidon, as from keeping an eye in his Cardiff and Wales performances I knew he was a class player!

Unfortunately (for Cardiff - not West Ham!), Sam Hammam the slightly crazy/dodgy former owner of Wimbledon during their Crazy Gang golden years, stuffed up the books trying to get the new stadium sorted and they went into the red big time! They had to sell all their best players just to stay afloat - at one stage they couldn't even pay the wages!

Anyway, with Dave jones (a manager I really rate) they managed to stay up against the odds and even uncover a couple of gems in players like Cameron Jerome - also having Jason Koumas on loan was an astute choice. Indeed for a long time Cardiff were either just inside, or fighting for, the playoff places before trailing off towards the end!

I think the finances are a bit better now and hopefully the 30,000 seat stadium will start to make progress (did you know they even have permission to make it into a 60,000 seat stadium if they are successful in the Premiership!? )

                      Exciting times!

Minnesota Vikings: I have no idea why. I have no family in Minnesota nor do I have any relation to Minnesota.

Hawaii-Partly because I went to college there and went to all the (American Football) games there. So I support all the sports there.

New York Rangers-Went to visit NY when I was a sophmore in high school and loved the city. The people were a mixed bag though.

Well I for one will be hoping for a Swansea victory when I see them in the playoff game at the Millennium Stadium in just over a week...

Just imagine, the derbies vs Cardiff will be murder if the LDV Vans hijinks are anything to go by...
