Actually this proves how repressed the English are. Pregnancies that young aren't even news over here. In my career I've cared for several girls who got pregnant at that age or even younger. I'd say that 12 year old mothers show up in my office about once every two years. I'm just one of perhaps 300,000+ primary practitioners in the USA.

The British Isles are a geographical entity, not a political entity.

The political map consists of Wales, England & Scotland forming Great Britain. With Northern Ireland included they form the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. The 26 counties in the south of the island of Ireland are the independent, sovereign nation of the Republic of Ireland. So technically Loyalists in Northern Ireland shouldn't even refer to themselves as British as it's inaccurate.

Great Britain just refers to the largest Island of the British Isles. Whether you consdier yourself British or not has nothing in principle to do with geography. Although you tend to find more people who consider themselves British in the British Isles than in Java for example.

Culturaly the Irish and the people of "Great Britain" have quite alot in common, not that you here many Irish republicans or Paisleys mob admitting as much.
