To his OP point, an arguement can be made in the 21st century PC world that dissenting non PC opinions are more likely to be censored or at least held up to riducule. Case and point 'poly and the treatment of Ned et.al..

If the point deserves ridicule perhaps, on the other hand I often see ridicule merely as a means to reflexively deflect honest criticisms in many cases here. You also went on to note that Fascists were also very pro-big-business (with the caveat that the industries were in line with the state).
The Nazis did call themselves National Socialists. This was probably roughly as apt as the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
I also agree with your point that a simple Left/Right spectrum is woefully limited. But hey, both Ned and Hitchens seemed content to use it.
Hitchens makes some good points. He typically does, although I often disagree with his overall stance on things.

True. But then again, that tactic isn't exclusive to the left. On these boards, there's just a slightly more leftist slant, so (in my opinion) extremist opinions like Ned's tend to be... well...If the point deserves ridicule perhaps, on the other hand I often see ridicule merely as a means to reflexively deflect honest criticisms in many cases here.
