  • Hve the Good Times Rolled Away

The Dow dropped 130 points today. Gold and oil soared.

CNNMoney.com postulates this is because of inflation fears.

...which I blame on rising gasoline prices, which cause the prices of almost all other goods to rise.

On the other hand, rising interest rates should slow the overheated real estate market.

Not sure how things are downtown Zkrib but where I am gas is now $3.50 a gallon for 87 octane.

I personally don't care about gas prices since I can afford it but as you stated:

            1) This causes all prices to go up

            2) Poor people get the shaft big time

Where's the ****ing oil pipeline from Basra to Houston anyway?????

Blame the jerks who feel the need to live 80 miles away from work so they can afford a huge McMansion and then drive a Massive SUV all the way for pushing up Oil Demand.

Or...in southern California....live 80 miles away so they can afford to live in a 3-bedroom fixer-upper and then drive a massive SUV, which will soon be repossessed.

I'm eight weeks away from not owning a car again. I can't wait!

Of course, I have no reason to complain; I get to buy gas on embassy grounds, free of any taxes or fees. I pay $53 for 100 liters -- or, for the metrically challenged, $2/gallon.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Real estate gains came to an abrupt halt in the first quarter of 2006, with the median price of a U.S. home falling 3.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2005, according to a report released Monday morning.
As I see it (whichi is probably overly simplified): Higher gasoline prices --> higher shipping costs --> higher prices for goods --> inflation (or perhaps just fear of inflation ) --> higher interest rates -> borrowing is more expensive --> real estate prices begin to drop and demand decreases.

                              Cash is King

                              Or something like that.
