Well, you are at least sane

I don't think that they will have that much of a problem. Of course they will be forced to improve their products, wich I assume that you don't mind, but that actually can make the place more interesting, so probably no loss in the long run.

Maybe they should just lift the embargo on Cuba altogether. It's certainly not hurting Castro. Then again, I'm all for high oil prices.

Quite agree - a price of $ 5-6 per gallon would be a good start.

Though I wish the extra money went to the government in taxes rather than the oil companies. I really don't see the US cutting consumption and reliance on foreign oil until gas prices get really HIGH.

IIRC, Citgo has the best offshore, deep water drilling technology. Norway awarded them a contract in a particular area because of it. I wonder why Cuba isn't going with Citgo, given the Chavez Castro love-fest.

Well, that is the price here and the profit isn't going to the oil companies - it goes straight into the tax box.

Yeah, suggesting that in the US is political suicide though

If this results in an oil spill into U.S. sovreign waters, I suggest we pay Cuba a high ordinance visit.

I'm sure that would go over really well in the rest of the world

                        @ US

Maybe now it's time to rethink the Cuba policy, huh?

Why would you suggest something so mind boggling stupid? Do you think Cuba doesn't have the right to exploit its own natural resources? If Lousiana spills oil from one of its platforms, would Cuba be justified in bombing Baton Rouge?

Hey, what about the Helms-Burton act? Maybe you should start enforcing that against our oil companies
