Playing Mario on a PC emulator, with a keyboard, is nothing like playing it with a game controller. Having said that, I'm not forking out a ton of cash to play those classics. If they are going to charge an outrageous price, I can just pull out my SNES.

And the batteries on your old cartridges haven't died yet? That's impressive, especially for the older games. BTW, I believe you can set an emulator to respond to the controller of your choice, though it makes little difference to me.

I'm not paying any $350 or whatever an X360 will still cost a year from now.
Rumor has it that by October, THIS year, the X360 Premium will be down to $300. A year from now, it may be about to drop to $250.
And yes, I'm sure to get an X360... I'll probably wait until October and then pick up Madden '07 for it.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Madden '07 for the 360 still won't be the same game as the other consoles are getting. Graphics-wise it will be great but from what I've heard last year's version was really bad and they still haven't implemented most of the features that have become standards for Madden.I never know their names, But i smile just the same
New faces...Strange places,
Most everything i see, Becomes a blur to me

The only thing they annouced for the virtual console is the Nintendo back catalogue, which I don't care much about. Not sure they'll open the virtual console to indie developers.
In any case, my most anticipated games that I've seen are all for Nintendo systems.
Legend of Zelda (wii)
Yoshi's Island 2 (DS)
Super Paper Mario (GCN)
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
Elite Beat Agents (DS)

Well, it looks like Nintendo may actually be setting themselves to win this round, as surprising as that is to say (though it would have been much more surprising to say that 2 years ago). They certainly seem to have the press on their side as well as quite a few gamers. With a low price point and a fair bit of innovation they may even dig pretty deep into the casual market.
I don't really play console games much, and those I do I generally stick with a few tried and true types. I've never been an XBox fan and I can't say even Final Fantasy XIII would be worth forking over $650+. On the other hand, you can count on Nintendo to have some fun and innovative games, particularly with the Wii's new special functionality.
