Anyway, most likely the water from the Jordan is being diverted into water hungry agriculture that is most likely exported to west, so these countries are effectively exporting their precious water overseas...

It's probably had periods of extreme shrinkage in the past. So long as it's not allowed to become a totally dry salt flat the weird ecosystem of the lake will probably endure.
