You are going to call it a gimmick regardless . I think seeing the trailer and knowing what the book is about blows up any "it's a gimmick" talk entirely. Especially because of the way the flick can look live action one second and cartoon another and visually asks question of what is the 'real' look.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Well, I would pretend that I'm hurt that I'm on your negative list, but you would probably critique the performance, while ignoring the social statement I was trying to make.

I'm wondering... is this a movie where it's really necessary to use cell-shaded graphics? It looks like another block-buster kinda movie.
I'd expect these kind of innovations to be better in the alternative scene; different kind of movies altogether.
will have to wait till the release of the movie though, because after all I liked sin city which also had some odd features and a cartoonish style

There's another movie that could be mistaken as "gimmicky".
But after watching it, you find its an integral part of the story.
And this technique was used in the "alternative scene" in Waking Life...which is by the same director.
Tubs: And what, prey tell, would that statement be?
