I saw a trailer for this in theaters. I'm not sure I could sit through a full two hours of that animation.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

Actually, it's not all that new. Waking Life used similar tactics, though their technology at the time was a bit more primitive.
What would be more interesting, in my opinion, is if they filmed a movie in HDR.
Welcome to the flickr HDR Group! The intent of this group is to feature pictures and discussion about HDR technology & technique. : : What is HDR? : : HDR on Wikipedia : : TIPS : : Shoot RAW, the more exposure data per image, the higher the dynamic range. Raw has much more luminosity data than Jpeg. Shoot as many exposures as you think might be required to capture the brightest highlight and darkest shadow in your scene : : TOOLS : : start here, ask around, or create your own post : : FAQ : : : : Where can I learn more about HDR? Please see the topic "What is HDR" for more detailed information on HDR specific technology. : : I'm using Photomatix or hacking photoshop (exif data) so I can create multiple exposures from 1 RAW file. Are those welcomed here? Technically you can post pics here developed from this process but only if you use the HDR development process. : : I'm doing HDR with Maya or another 3D rendering application, is this group just for photos? It started out that way, but your high-quality output renderings using HDR are welcome here. Especially if they help us learn more about what HDR is and how it is used in other mediums.

Still pisses me off that Hollywood screwed up my favorite short story ever ("Paycheck")“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Very few of Dick's stories have been made into good movies. His stories almost always take place in the mind of the protagonist, and mental landscapes do not generally translate very well into motion picture landscapes.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

I'd hardly call Richard Linklater (Waking Life, School of Rock, Dazed and Confused, Slacker, Before Sunrise/Sunset, Bad News Bears remake) a "gimmicky" director. If anything, he's experimental."I predict your ignore will rival Ben's" - Ecofarm

The very first Lord of the Rings movie used a pathetic attempt of animating live actors also.
ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!
