When I was an undergraduate student at St. Ambrose University, I did a research paper on the development of a person's sexual orientation. Back then, I took a much more purely genetic-based position.

As of now, I have developed a more nuanced perspective on how one's sexual orientation develops. I'm thinking it's more complicated than whether or not it's simply genetic; there could be pyschological and sociological factors. Maybe all three factors could overlap somehow??

The only thing that I still know for sure, is that sexual orientation is not a choice. But alas, we risk thread-jacking if we take our discussion further, so you or I would have to create a new thread if we continue.

Which might also be why he got a short jail sentence and why they seem to think he's capable of being rehabilitated. If these kids were post-pubescent then he's not actually a pedophile, simply a child molester. Pedophiles are the ones with the terrible treatment / recidivism records, people who molest older children actually are pretty close to average in their recidivism rate.

IIUC the kids were between 9 and 17. The boy who killed himself had been abused for many years.

the suicide should have been a manslaughter.. and just because he didn't **** 8 yearolds (for the most part) doesn't mean he wasn't breaking the law... harming people... repeatedly
