...actually, maybe this should have remained a Fight Club thread. Or the original topic. So, back to Hindu-Muslim politics or whatever. Both of the people on this board who know/pretend to know the subject and have something else to say about it are doubtless bursting with opinions.
I could respond fiercely to your Fight Club jab, if you'd like?

Kashmir looks like a nice place to visit. Its a shame they can't all get along. I wonder what the roots of the conflict are? (Going to Wikipedia... )

I went to Wikipedia about twenty posts ago, but I was dissappointed to find out it wasn't really a controversial subject. The discussion page behind a neutrality tag is always more interesting than the article itself.

A setback to the National Congress' push for less violence and more peace with Pakistan - still, it should be noted that there has been less violence now then under the BJP.

The leaders of Shiv Sena are as abominable as Muslim extremists.

From what I've read so far the Kashmir question is just an extension of the India-Pakistan conflict. I thought there would be more to it than that.

Wasn't very entertaining either.
To me it was hilarious, and I'm certainly not a pretentious hipster. Pretentious perhaps....

                  Ah crap!

Did I really just say all that? Sorry aneeshm. Please forgive me for being so insensitive.

Fact is, this **** just makes me want to scream. There's no way to rationally accept it, to fit it into some broader plan where it all somehow makes sense and we all go away feeling like "Oh well. That's alright then."

Yeah, your whole mahabaratnik tragedia sh1ts me. I'd accept it more rationally if you posted a fair ratio of articles critical of both sides. Balance it up a bit! Link to Amnesty with bar charts and graphs, statistical comparisons and twenty-seven 8" x 10" coloured glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was and how it was to be used in evidence.

Then I could work out a fair division of my compassion...
10% for Hindu nationalists; 15% for displaced Kashmiris; Oh! and I'll have to set aside a good 7,5% for the earthquake survivors in Pakistan. Then there's Sudan, that's really gonna bite into my empathy budget for the week.

But there's no accepting it rationally.

                  Jai Mata Di.
