You have to make a revision on something to be a revisionist, but if you wish to maintain that the VC survived Tet, be my guest. I see no need to denigrate someone’s intelligence when he is kind enough to do it for me himself.

Time is not necessarily on their side. If Iraqi government really sets in, the best the insurgents could hope for is another Algeria.

The population dynamic does not favor the Sunni insurgents. I don't see how they could possibly win against 75% of the population.

LOL @ you guys trying to rationalize the loss to the Vietcong like a crack addict afraid to admit he has a problem

I was under the impression that we were talking about the Viet Cong. I fail to see how it is a revisionist view to say that the VC destroyed itself as an effective fighting force as a result of the Tet Offensive in 1968 when it is backed up by historical facts.

I know you're joking. That's why you have the name of a flagrant homosexual as your nick.

Based on your case, I think it would be better if the military were completely disbanded, since it tends to derange its members.

You spent several posts trying to rationalize something you knew wasn't true but hoping it was.

It looks like the new PM has the balls to take Interior away from SCIRI (Defense also seems to be going to a pol independent of any militias, as is the status quo). Easily the biggest problem in the current Iraqi gov't, IMO. He also seems more open to forming a Unity gov't. Good for him.

You can't even come close to beating me in an argument (or most other people on here), so you resort to militaristic, pseudo-macho posturing. I sincerely hope that all military people aren't as brainwashed as you.

Why do you hate gay people?
I don't. IYHAC you would know that the historical Agathon was also a poofter (one runs this risk with Ancient Greeks for obvious reasons), but I wonder why the big tough military hero guy would choose the name of Achilles' butt-buddy as his nick given the current military attitude towards our homophilic friends.

You can't avoid it in my job. The saying goes that "Wars and homos" is the subject matter of classics.

I had to give the "they're all gay" lecture last week, so it's been on my mind.

It's kind of funny really. Pausanias in the Symposium gives a speech that could only be described as "heterophobic".
