Your explanations aren't reasonable. They aren't much at all.

    Again, why 'flagrant' homosexual?

What was it about the mentioning of Asher's sexuality that 'wasn't very complimentary'?

Because he was, and because of the military's policy.

Are you trying out for the idiot Olympics or something?

About his boyfriend. The rest was not-so-cleverly altered by you.

Par for the course. I've never seen Asher really hold back with his flames either...

Yaaay, maybe we should rename this thread "Idiot Apolytoners operating in large groups..."?
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

but I wonder why the big tough military hero guy would choose the name of Achilles' butt-buddy as his nick given the current military attitude towards our homophilic friends.
It seems that you, not I, are lost in a morase of bigoted steriotypes.

Since you have yet to give a good reason, why should I the internet poster, not use Patroklos as a handle? I don't know about you, but when I read Homer I try to note things other that who is a homo and who is not.

I am also a huge fan of Oscar Wilde, who since you seem to cataloge such things was also gay. And just for you, he was also a poet btw.

Nope. The Viet Cong were virtually wiped out in the Tet Offensive. After that, the war was waged by the North Vietnamese.

From Wiki re: aftermath of the Tet Offensive

NLF: National Front for the Liberation of Southern Vietnam or more populary known as Viet Cong
                        PLAF: NLF's military arm

The PLAF's operational forces were effectively crippled and the offensive failed to achieve their strategic objectives. It effectively ceased to have any role in the war. The organization was preserved for propaganda purposes and even strengthened, but in practical terms the NLF was finished. The decimated cadres of the PLAF, the military wing of the National Front for Liberation, became largely ineffective for the remaining seven years of the war. Its paper-formations were filled with North Vietnamese replacements. The civil remainder of the NLF formed itself into a so-called Provisional Revolutionary Government which while it generated much publicity and waved many flags, ruled nothing.

They achieved their objective: they made the American public believe that the war was unwinnable.

                          Hence, they won.

Their objective was to trigger a nationwide revolt. That failed.

However, the effect was to shatter the trust the U.S. public had for their government. We had been believing what we were being told...that the war was going in our favor, that the people of Viet Nam supported us, and that we could "see the light at the end of the tunnel."

The nationwide sneak attack showed that the people of Viet Nam were willing (and sometimes more than willing) to stay silent during preparations for a massive attack on U.S. and government forces. In the aftermath of Tet, we doubted everything the government told us, and a schism opened up between the U.S. government and an every growing number of its citizens.

It's kind of funny really. Pausanias in the Symposium gives a speech that could only be described as "heterophobic".

What's funny is that in this thread, you claim to have respect for gays, yet you turn around and try to taunt Patroklos for having an Apolyton username that is tied to a historical figure who may have been gay.

This leads to two potential root causes for the actions.

                                1) Aggie's mental capacity is so taxed that only a few topic's du jour may reside in his cranial cavity

                                2) Aggie is truly simply a bigotted homophobe

or potentially a combination of the two.
