I hate that question - it's such a pile of sh*t. The only one I can think of is that I masturbate too often, but I don't think that would be appropriate for a job interview Apart from that, I am perfect in every possible way

I omit that messy Novartis business from my CV...I was only there 7 weeks and I don't think it would do anything to bring up possible questions about it. Even if I did nothing wrong myself, it looks highly irregular...

A friend of mine, who is a USC grad and a wannabe actor, had an interview years ago with John Wayne. (FYI: Wayne graduated from USC and once he hired an actor, he used them in motion picture after motion picture.) The interview went like this:

John Wayne: Can you ride a horse?
My friend: I've never been on a horse in my life.
John Wayne: Then I don't need you, do I?
Afterwards, my friend's agency said, "You idiot! I could teach you how to ride a horse in two days!"

Suppose you're overqualified for a certain job. You would really like to have that job, the work's great and the pay is okay too. Of course, this is supposing you can't find another job (I will face this situation when I graduate). Can you say you only have 1 diploma instead of 2?

This might seems like a stupid question, but still...

I've recently lied on my resume, as I removed the most important part of my studies altogether.

Considering that I'm a recent graduate, it considerably alleviates my resume, and sheds a completely different light on the kind of candidate that I am.

Should I or should I not lie?
If you do lie and they find out, you will be fired day 1. I worked for the US Gov for over 33 years. A long time ago, I was injured and was assign to our labor board. I learne if you lie, you are gone no matter how good you may be on the job. City, County, and State are petty close to the same.

True. I can still remember an incident that happened when I was six. A buddy of my dad's got fired for lying on his job application about never being arrested.

There'd been an incident when my dad's buddy had followed his uncle's instructions that "if you ever need a car for anything, just take mine...you don't even have to ask." So he took the uncle's car without asking. When the uncle found it gone, he'd reported it to the police, who then arrested my dad's buddy. The kid was only in custody until the cops could call the uncle and clear things up. But then later, he stated on his job application that he'd never been arrested...and when the truth came out, presto--he was gone.

A lie isn't a lie if you believe it to be true. That will even work on a polygraph test. In your case, if you were fired and then say you quit on an application then it could just be explained as a difference of opinion between you and your former employer. On an application you are representing yourself, not your former employer, so there is nothing essentially wrong about writing down things from your own perspective. If they check into it (and usually they will) you can always explain it as a difference of opinion then give both sides of the issue. Good luck (if it isn't already too late).
