Yeah, that's right. I haven't seen very many episodes of it, as I've heard bad things about the ending. Bad enough that the original author refuses to work with them any more kind of bad.

About the ending:
1. It has this end-of-Evangelion-TV-series like substance added to it (but its still kare kano)
2. It is a hanging ending. Meaning things are completely unresolved because the planned next season never came.
3. It not "bad", but you will have to buy a bunch of manga to actually get it all resolved. (which thankfully are in english)

The actual reason why matsutada refused to work with anno for another season is because anno wanted to make kare kano into a school comedy while matsutada was going into angst and drama......

Finished watching Adult Swim's run of Paranoia Agent this week. Really enjoyed it. A few things seems a bit over the top, like the manga girls. But given everything else in the series, it's understandable that they really aren't explained.

One new show that we haven't discussed in this thread is Saiunkoku Monogatari. If you like court intrigue with a splash of comedy, this one's for you.

Well, they caught up with the manga storyline and then kind of went off into la-la land, as you note (in different words ^_^) below.

Very good series. I've enjoyed all of Satoshi Kon's projects so far. Episode 8 is one of the best dark comedy episodes ever.

Hmm, haven't seen any of that one. I'll have to check it out after I get some of my backlog out of the way (just got the full Neverwinter Nights Platinum edition recently, and boy does that thing eat time...)

Saw Howl's Howling Castle a while ago. It was pretty good, but a bit too mushy. Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away were better, IMO.

I also saw Mobile Suit Gundam: Seed. It was OK, but I'm not sure I'll rent the other DVD's.

I saw the first and second DVD of Ghost in the Shell: stand alone complex (second gig). Great stuff! I wish there was more stuff like this out there.

I found Ghost: SAC to be a bit pretentious. Especially those tachinkomis or whatever they're called. Glad they got what they deserved in the end. Beyond that, it really is a good series. Intricate plot, well drawnand animated, and a sexy lead.
