I seem to recall this was cut in some version of international release. American, most likely.

It's rather amusing. Batou happens to connect to her just at the same time, and has sensations about bodyparts he does not posses...

Man-Machine Interface, the sequel, is still well drawn, but the story went over my head by few feet.

Currently, I'm greatly anticipating the GITS: SAC: The Movie, or whatever they'll end up calling it.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

In the US Manga is heavily purchased by gradeschool kids, who aren't suppose to be able to purchase visual sexual content at will..

The first edition was censored, not the second edition, the one I have. There's an "explicit content" sticker on the cover.

Yes, its well drawn overall, but there are problems here and there. Sometimes, for example, Motoko has a glorious female derrière, other times, its a little boy's ass...

One thing I didn't like is that 80% of the "action", if you can call it that, takes place on the internet, with Motoko hacking and talking. And I don't care much for the mysticism. Sometimes he just makes stuff up because he thinks it sounds cool.

So I would recommend volume 1, but not volume 2.

--"Didn't I explain my Miyazaki Castle theory?"

If so I don't remember it.

          --"I just caught Vandread, recently."

Another one I wasn't impressed with. Seemed like typical Gonzo.

--"In the US Manga is heavily purchased by gradeschool kids, who aren't suppose to be able to purchase visual sexual content at will.."

That's what the rating system is for. Manga like Berserk gets shrinkwrapped and stuck with age stickers.

It's simply that any Miyazaki title with the word "Castle" in it is going to be inferior to his other works.

Mostly because they have lame villians. Most of his best films have no villians or villians who aren't necessarily evil, but seem that way because of circumstances.

Now, I haven't seen "Howl's Moving Castle," so I can't claim if it is as bad as the others. But given the pattern, I suspect that it won't compare to his other films like "Totoro," "Spirited," "Princess," or "Kiki."

Watch Howl's. There isn't really a villain - rather heroes fighting against themselves and a society gone mad with war. It is a pretty brilliant peice of artwork, if you ask me, with visual influence drawn straight from the impressionists.

Yeah... but she's not a central villain.

Just a quick bump for now to mention that I really hope we get more seasons of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya later. This season is almost over, and they haven't covered all of the first book yet, so there's reason to hope.

In addition to all the other greatness, this series has some of the best animation I've ever seen. A recent episode featured a concert with what was hands-down the best animation/music synch I've ever seen. And a non-sucky song, which is always a bonus.

With the licensing of the Kino's Journeys, Twelve Kingdoms, and Crest of the Stars novels, now my novel wish list is down to Read or Die and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia.

Only a couple other quick notes. One other series this season worth recommending is Nana, a story about two women with the same name who meet while on their way to Tokyo.

And I've now seen some of the Sasami Magical Girl Club series, and it's really not that great. No Pixy Misa, no Funky Connie, not even really any Pretty Sammy. Not bad or anything, but nothing to go out of your way for.

I have recently watched Golden Boy (6 episodes) (was that a normal TV show? the sexuality was OK.. but the Golden Shower bit was not what I would expect to see on normal TV, in the US that is barely ever mentioned). I also watched the first 3 episodes of His and Her Circumstances (do I have it right?).

No, it's an OVA. Definitely perverted, but rather funny.

Yeah, that's right. I haven't seen very many episodes of it, as I've heard bad things about the ending. Bad enough that the original author refuses to work with them any more kind of bad.
