The first season of BSG was great. I've only seen the 1st ep of the second season, but it looks good so far.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Galactica is the best show currently on TV . Heck, it's the show that I have been waiting for for a long time!

If you can name some SCI FI movies or shows that are better, please do. Perhaps I am missing out on something.

24 is the most contrived piece of junk ever written for TV. I watched about half of last season just to give it a fair chance. The bad guys manage to fit a US warhead onto a foreign missle within a matter of hours? The bad guy calls a lawyer after midnight to get an immediate restraining order to prevent the interrogation of his captured agent? The agency has it's own ICU in the basement but it's manned by merely one doctor and a staff that is incapable of conducting cardiac resuscitation on their own? The agency orchestrates a raid on the Chinese embassy within a few minutes of a key witness being located? The bad guys pull off a jail break for their leader within a few hours of capture? A cruise missle takes several episodes to travel from Iowa to LA? It can't be picked up by radar - was it on a terminal ground hugging approach pattern the entire route? Not even our cruise missles can do that!

24 is worse than the old Buck Rogers series of the 1940s. They should replace the old baddies with a chinese guy named 'Ming'.

I don't know about BSG, but, so far, Babylon 5 is the best TV show I ever saw.

I'm pretty sure there are better movies than BSG out there . Here are some possible candidates.

                      - 2001: a space odyssey
                      - Blade Runner
                      - 1984
                      - Solaris (Tarkovski's version)

Depending on how BSG develops in the next seasons, it just might perhaps surpass B5.

How you can compare BSG to such pap as 24 is mindboggling.

BSG has great writing, and some of the acting is stellar, specailly Mary MCDowell and Olmos. Theyr play well rounded, complex individuals. Doc Cottle is more witty than the entire cast of 24 combined.

The new BSG is trully as great show. Sad that it has the SciFi stigma.

                                Smokes

Its hard to quit when you get started. I'm still thankfull for a friend I had in High School who smoked and stopped me from doing so when I started else I may have ended up like so many who fail at attempts to stop.
