On the other hand, there is little prospect of keeping low value manufacturing work.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. We should obviously force some Americans to be poor so we can keep our strategic sock production capacity.

The list of published books grows. If you're curious to see what sort of stories I weave out, head to Amazon.com and do an author search for "Christopher Hartpence." strangely enough, those textile jobs paid more then the replacements they got. Socks aren't sewn by hand, they aren't transported by mule. and if you want to import them from someone else, you do have to pay for them.

I recall you stating that just about all manufacturing was low value work.

But we all know that in Canada everyone is a lumberjack. Thus the whining over softwood tarrifs.

In other news, the communist Finland gained 2 jobs, and that's net!

I'm sure we can surpass the 10% unemployment rate, which I think (because many others have said) is the rate and line if we cross, there's no turning back. SItuation that has lasted for years and years, our measures to combat this are what? None.

Woohoo! Way to go! Let's go spend some more money without making it!

                              I'm sorry, man.

But Finland's got to have something to recommend it? Otherwise, why would the Finns live there?

DanS seems to have under estimated new job creation in March. The BBC is reporting that 211,000 not 177,000 new jobs were created in March.
