Congress has around a 32% approval rating (according to a report I saw on TV)... lower than Bush... but still higher than Dick Cheney!!

But 99% of Congress gets re-elected, time and time again...

    99%

Don't we ridicule countries with fake elections who have results like that? Saddam Hussein, back in the day... Egypt's president, etc.

Most every other "democracy" or Western nation has many political parties. A left, a right, a middle, a labor, a commie, a socialist, a green, a nationalist party, an up, a down, an inside out, a femnazi party...

But America? We have... two... and one is bought and paid for by corporate lobbyists... and the other is... well... bought and paid for by corporate lobbyists. Although, one pretends like they are the good guys.

Every four years, I get to vote for one of two white males. Next time, it may be a woman. Like that will really matter. It's just the wife of the last guy who was president. And maybe next time, if she wins, the brother of the guy who is president now will run. That's nice. It's like a royal family. They just sort of pass the Crown around.

Daddy Bush had it... he lost to Bill... then Dubya won... maybe Hillary might win... then I think they'll give it to Jeb... ooh how lovely! I hear Bill is even hanging out with George Sr. and Barbara. I'm sure they are talking about lots of stuff!

Oh, I'm sure DanS has told you guys, record corporate profits!!

    LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL...

You know where those corporate profits are going right? Trickling down to the working people?

No silly... some for the CEO's, some for the execs, some for the shareholders (mostly top 10%ers), and a lot for CORPORATE LOBBYISTS!

    K Street

Most of the money goes to the Republicans now... you know, they control all three branches. No need to give a lot of money to the other guys. They couldn't win an election if their life depended on it!

But still, we can't forget about the Democrats... they might get lucky. Or the Republicans might just **** things up so bad, that they might lose an election. I mean, there's only so much Diebold can do. Oh wait, I need a tinfoil hat. That's one of those librul buzzwords! Just to be safe, we'll still give some lobbying money to the Democrats. But we'll gerrymander like hell to keep key people in place.

Bug boy had to take one for the team. He got sloppy.

But he'll be taken care of. Don't forget. RECORD CORPORATE PROFITS

And really, who's paying attention? There's a war on! Two wars! A War on TerrorTM (that still has less casualties than traffic accidents in one year in America... or murder by guns)... and the War in Iraq (which is making the first War worse, BTW)... but that's good. People don't pay as close attention to things when they are scared all the time.

We're still on orange alert right?

Oh BTW, the planet is heating up... but don't worry about it. IT'S ONLY NATURAL. Those huge ice sheets, they fall apart and melt all the time. Don't worry about it. Remember... c'mon... everyone say it with me now....

    RECORD CORPORATE PROFITS
To us, it is the BEAST.

It pisses me off that we stand a good chance of this country being run from 1992-2016 by two families - Bush and Clinton.

        Don't forget Chelsea
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Just make a third party that pledges to amend the Constitution and create a multiparty parliamentary system. If people want a system with more than two choices they'll vote for said party, and if they don't then **** 'em, they get what they pay for. That's how democracy works.

I think all campaign contributions should be abolished. And also politicians should not use their own money for elections (would prevent rich people from attaining office).

I'm tried of special interest groups and corporations having their hands in politicians pockets. They no longer work for the people. And because of that, I agree, we don't live in a democracy. The politicians do not work for the people, they work for their campaign financers.

no one votes for or against "congress" they vote for or against their local congressmen.

its perfectly possible for someone to despise congress , but for their local congressman because
                              A. The problem in congress is all those guys in party/ideology X, not my guy whose party/ideology Y
                              or
                              B. the problem is all those congressman who vote for pork projects while my guy only votes for stuff that we really, really need here in my district, and let me tell you why we need it so badly ......

Its been like this for a long time. No RIP at all.
