Yanukovich's Party of the Regions came in first place with around 35 per cent of the vote, followed by Tymoshenko's party, with Yushchenko's Our Ukraine trailing behind with only 14 per cent. A coalition will have to be worked out, with the very possible scenario of a link between Yushchenko and Yanukovich (8). Both the US and the EU have claimed that this election was entirely free and fair and seem to have no more interest in Ukraine.

This looks like a win.
65% of the voters voted against Yanukovich. How many votes did he get in the first contested election that triggered the oranger revolution?

Yanokovich got a plurality of the votes because Yushchenko's party split. The two halves will just form a coalition.
Why does the Russian half of the country stay? It's like they think they have a duty to drag the ethnic Ukrainians back into Putin's vile grip with them. The Russian half should just declare independence and join Russia.

You just think it's that easy?
Oh, okay... let's just join Russia!
or what is it, you don't like the results of a vote... LET'S JUST DECLARE INDEPENDENCE
(and BTW, I have no love for any side in this whole situation)

Yushchenko can't get himself out of a wet paper bag, and the people don't like that.
If you support democracy you have to take the good with the bad. You can't say "I don't like these results so why don't the Ruskies getta out of here."

They won't. For Yushenko it means death as politician.
