    Microsoft has infiltrated Sony and Nintendo

    Pretty amazing what they're capable of. Somehow they have agents that have infiltrated the executive ranks of Nintendo and Sony.

    For Nintendo, they have killed Nintendo's chance of any reasonable marketshare by releasing 2001-era hardware in 2006 as a "new" console.

    For Sony, they managed to delay the PS3's launch til at least November 2006 -- giving MS a full year head start. Now, the icing on the cake, is a Sony VP is quoted as saying the PS3 will cost 499-599 euros. For reference, 499-599 euros is about $613.57-$736.53USD, and $712.70-$855.52CDN.

    They are giftwrapping marketshare for MS.

          its not doind so good in japan is it...and most of europe is waiting for thew ps 3 as well from what iv gathered

              The only place that it isn't doing well is Japan, and not surprisingly Japan is now the smallest of the 3 major markets.

              North America is largest, Europe 2nd, Japan 3rd.

                Yeah, you're right. No wonder the 360s aren't selling. Oh, wait?

                Sony is the company that covertly installed rootkits if you played their music CD.

                  You cant live off by by the Americas alone, Europe and Asia as well as minor America are more or less PS3/Revolution lands. the decisive struggle for martket for Xbox 360 and PS3 wsill be Europe I believ e.

                    You can most certainly live by the Americas alone.

                    But I don't think it's that big of a competition. How many people in Europe have HDTVs vs those in North America? Hint: a lot less.

                    So where is the incentive for Europeans to buy the expensive PS3 for its bluray high-def DVD support? Hint: there's not much.

                    So why would they pay so much more for a system that looks the same in the end?

                      Well let me tell you that 1080 HD tvs are being sold more than ever and as you know thew Xbox will only be capable to 720 reso itrs gonna work againt the MS in the on coming yaers. You cant base future marketing/selling on the currerent figures alone. The big problem for HDTV in europe is tha the broadcasters have all invested huge piles of euros for soon to be obsolete digital tv technology. That may play for 360's pockets

                      To be honest Asher, and I know you are somehow going to use this as a counter argument, I wreckon people will habvre 2 equal reasons to buy PS3 over 360. Those are the BRplayer itself and a very potent gaming paltform. To be honest the 360 only delivers the half of this. Its gonna be a toucgh competition but I dont think 360 will rule over the other a t the end.

                      What comes to Ms I dont think they will be satisfied for lordship over Americas alone. So in theit global context you most certainly cant live off the americas alone. You can grow very big there, but not truely global.

                      Actually I think that 3 globally competing platforms will be prewtty close to the natural state of product differentation. 3 is kinda the optimal to the 3 main market areas and mindserts. 3 is good.

                        The 1080p argument is bunk, no real games will use it. There simply isn't enough bandwidth for it. It'll be like 1080i on Xbox(1).

                        Developers are targetting 720p on PS3.

                        Those are the BRplayer itself and a very potent gaming paltform. To be honest the 360 only delivers the half of this. Its gonna be a toucgh competition but I dont think 360 will rule over the other a t the end.
                        It's not as important as you think. Very few people have a system capable of running bluray discs, and even less people are fond of paying the announced $40 per movie on Bluray (versus what, 10-15 for DVD?).

                        If it does become a big reason, MS just needs to bundle their already-announced HD-DVD peripheral to counter it.

                              You are still stuck at 2006-07. BRdiscs will become more cheaper over the time and to be honest DVDs are just bloated coded movies that take 4,7 gb for a semi crappy picture quality. BR dics will make a huge difference. Its gonna be like VHs and DVD in '97. Are you going to gdefend the VHS equivalent? HD-DVD....forget it, its a dead tech already.

                              Look if Sony has been capable of keeping the Memory stick and Minidics alive for 15 yaers it will surely have the resources and know how to triumph with really advanced format like the Bru-Ray.
