Hey now lets all play nice children!!!
The shot alos needs to be injected by someone that knows what they are doing. I had a bad one last year. it got raised swollen and painful. Turned out the idiot giving the shot didnt have any experience giving it. Got another one a week later all turned out well.
Just a tid bit my Grandpa had tb, Active at one time in my life and my mother and her sibs carry the dormant virus, meaning they all have positive skin tests. They go in every year for chest xray and given a clean bill of health. I fnd it interesting that the patient that had the virus wasnt in isolation as a possible tb patient due to respitory disease he was there for. DRs always order chest xrays for patients that might be have respitory problems on admission to rule out tb and pnemonia.

Psst Tia you dont have to worry bout telling those folks if ur test is positive, though i hope its not, They will know and hunt you down like a dog. The CDC knows everything. They register every known infectious disease carrier to follow up on them to make sure they arent so to speak polluting the air

Yep, it's supposed to be read within 48 to 72 hours after it's injected not the next day.

I have an initial reaction every time I get one done, but within 48 hours it's normal.

I'm not a medical professional like the Dr. and Mrs. Tubes, but I've been getting TB tests for the last 20 years because of the jobs I've had in hospitals.
I would bet that she was told exactly what I said, since she hasn't posted since yesterday.

I have to go get a test done because I may have gotten exposed myself today. I have to test the isolation rooms everyday that aTB positive patient is in the room. The idiot nurses for the room put a rolling nighttable right against the return air duct, making the room a positive pressure room and push anything in the room into the hallway......and me.

I should be tested and also anyone that has been on that floor in the last day should be tested.

              ACK!

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is not a virus.

True man, true. The mcobacteria are rather interesting. They are perhaps the 'simplest' badteria known. One member of the genus actually has only about 400 genes, and so is the 'simplest' bacterium known.

Chest x-ray results came back negative, and have to go take care of this patient tomorrow. Nope the facility as of last week had done nothing to isolate him, not keeping the door closed no documentation posting universal precautions etc. So I'll just do my precautions and hope for the best.

Does the patient have TB or just a positive test without active disease?

AIDS isn't a virus itself either..!

Given maybe 10% of people with the bacterium go on to develop the disease, I wouldn't call it as bad as things like HIV, really (Plus if it does develop, it won't necessarily kill you).

AIDS isn't a virus. It's a condition that can be brought on by a virus. HIV is a virus that causes AIDS.

                                HIV >> AIDS >> Infections/Cancers >> Death

Infections/Cancers being the direct cause of death.

                                So,

                                Guns >> Bullets >> Holes >> Death
