Weird. Last I read about Macedonia, Deutsche Telecom bought their state monopoly. I felt sad, because DT is the biggest obstacle to progress that could happen to that country. So this WiFi thing is rather unexpected.

Jesus... They had a computer lab at my school using Apple 2e computers when I was in 1st grade WAAAAAAYYYYY back in 1982-83. When I was in 4th grade they kept the Apples but added in Commedore 64 and some IBM clones to use as well (that would be 1985-1986). At 7th grade they split it up with one MAC lab and one much larger PC lab in the junior high and by the time I was in 9th grade it was two large PC labs with a handful of MACs in the back.

The first time I ever used the internet was in 1993-1994 in that school computer lab and it was text based instead of the World Wide Web. I remember it used something called a "gopher" which was basically just a DOS prompt where you'd choose from a list of options which made up the web "page". Not high tech but pretty exiting stuff 12 years ago.

You should have lived in a state which actually spent money on modernizing their schools.

It's FYROMulans. And I think Markos ought to be more respectful of the heirs to Alexander the Great. After all, AtG defeated and conquered the Greeks (except Sparta).

The slavs didn't get there until the 6th or 7th century. They have nothing to do with the ancient Macedonians.

What are the rankings of NJ schools and California schools? Aren't you guys near the bottom of the list with Alabama and Mississippi?

They taught us paintbrush and minesweeper around '94-96.

Going wireless does not make you the most advanced nation. I guess its nice to know that your laptop will work while you're herding sheep. (and isn't Monaco wireless?)

Perhaps we should define what makes a nation technologically advanced then decide whether Macedonia (or anyone else) fits the bill.

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
