    Of course atheists are neither.

No, they hang out in coffee shops.

Atheism seems weak logically and is plagued by the large number of its often most visible adherents who use it like members of previous generations used communism - to stick it to their old man. Most people who live in relatively free societies realize in their early adult years that the need to rebel against authority is pretty silly once you are an adult. I wouldn't want my daughter to marry someone who seems immature in this way, it seems to pointlessly promote conflict.

          That's an, uh, interesting PoV.

The thing is, for any philosophical debate, it is up to the proponents of a position to establish proof for their position. The critics don't need to "disprove" a position, they only need to find holes in their opponents' arguments.

The default position is something doesn't exist until proven otherwise. Pretty much the same as science really.

And precisely who would Europeans be rebelling against then? Their states are secular and religion is not forced down my neck. In my case my father is atheist and my mother holds no discernable belief. So who would I be rebelling against? Let's face it for me, atheism has never been a function of rebellion for me, it's actually been a function of education. So it seems that you are just demonstrating your profound ignorance in your post.

Atheism is weak logically? Compared to theism?

Here: I think this is for you.
              What?

OK, then debate an agnostic. Your position is that no gods exist and his is that he doesn't know whether any gods exist or not. We await your proof.

That's funny, it is us who are awaiting your proof...you can't just make an assumption like the existence of a Judaeo-Christian God and expect people to accept it I'm afraid the burden of proof lies squarely on your shoulders (or the theistic world, at least).

Why would an agnostic have proof of a God and still be an agnostic?

Evidently not, again making an assumption that everyone has the same mindset as you...

Sorry to confuse you with a rebel.
Atheism is not rebelling. My left wing views probably are more akin to that. For if we did not question authority, our society would be in a pretty sorry state...

An agnostic is just a fence-sitter My point of view is, if you can't bring solid, empirical evidence of your God, why should I bother even giving it any consideration? Especially when there all manner of other silly propositions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism or a Great Pink Unicorn creator...

Believe me, I am not trying to prove anything to you, and I am not going to start now...

Again? Where did I make the first assumption? Why in a thread about America's opinions about their atheist subgroup should I have to assume that people will think that I'm addressing European atheism?

Hey, I'm not trying to prove anything of that sort either. Easy isn't it? What I'm saying is that lack of evidence for something is not the same thing as evidence for its non-existence.

The universe was in fact sneezed out of a being called the Great Green Arkelsiezure. Fact.

                                Disprove that.
