Mine is an old 2GHz CPU. I need to see if my mother board can take a 3 GHZ CPU and I really should double check that my video card is up to snuff as well since it is 3.5 years old now.

My plan was to buy a new machine when Window's Vista comes out but maybe if I upgrade then I can stretch it out for another year or two.

Yes, far better (and I like RTW too), particularly MP. The only place RTW tops it is in graphics.

Yeah, this game (ie, Oblivion) is what ultimately convinced me to buy a new computer NOW rather than waiting until Vista.

Yeah, I'm still nuts about it. I got it shortly after it's release, and it is still the game I sink most time into every month.

To get a decent set up with those specs would be around $1300-$1400. At that price I will wait for windows Vista but the upgrade might be worth it if I can find a 3Ghz chip (and my mother board can support it) then that might be the way to go. Failing that a move up to something like a 2.5 and running it on lower specs might be an option.

My CPU is fine : AMD 64 3000+

But my videocard isn't: a Radeon 9550 with 256 MB DDR

And I only have 512 MB of ram.

Buying an Xbox 360 would be cheaper than upgrading, not to mention you can play Geometry Wars on the 360.

I hadn't thought of that. This could be a nice excuse to buy an X-Box.

You mean they still have supply problems? I thought they took care of that...

Edit: just checked on the Futureshop website and they're still out of stock.

I have still yet to see an XBox 360 for sale. Oblivion comes out this week. I just bought a new PC anyway, but even if I was thinking about it, I'm not sure when I'd be able to get a new XBox 360. April? They said supply would be ok in March back when the system came out.

I think I'll be lucky to get one in June.

Buy a used gamecube and buy Zelda, Metroid, Soul Calibur, F Zero, Resident Evil, Mario Sunshine.

For less than 200$ You'll have many GOOD games!!

I've been thinking of just waiting until Windows Vista. By then there should be some really good mods out and maybe an expansion pack.

You may be waiting a long time, it seems.
