I like to give a game a week or so after release so that real reviews can be conducted. Often times the companies only pre-release to one or two prefered magazines with the implied threat that if the game doesn't get a rave review then that magazine will never get a pre-release scoupe from them again. That just breeds unreliable fanboy pre-reviews which can't be trusted so I avoid them. The bugs and short comings need a couple weeks before they're exposed.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

but that is in retrospect, at the time, the NPCs in Morrowind were a strongpoint.
I have to disagree. The NPCs in Fallout 1 & 2, Planescape: Torment were far better... and actually felt like people as opposed to things you have to get information from.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I would say that, in retrospect, the amount of dialogue and conversation options was indeed a strong point, but I didn't think of the NPCs themselves even back then as a strong point because it really struck me how most were static clones of each other.

The Planescape: Torment NPC's were particularly memorable. I can't say the same of the Morrowind automatons.
And it seems Bethesda removed most of what was tedious in Morrowind.

Oerdin,
If you want to give away a tiny piece of your Soul, I recommend World of Warcraft.
Tho' Battlefield2 is good as well.
Hell, just go out and Play Rome:Total War all the way through with each faction.Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Civ 4 is boring me, Victoria has been beaten so many times it is no longer fun, I've moved paste EU2, Never Winter Nights was great but is old, and Pirates didn't keep my attention for long so I'm now looking for a new game to play. I tend to buy 1-2 games per year and then just keep playing them for a long time plus I like to avoid any games which require fees to play. Any suggestions?
Oh, and sports management games.

Btw, I must say that "Guild Wars" is really drawing me in. If your computer can't handle Oblivion, I'd give GW a try.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Guild Wars is pretty good. It also has the benefit of being an online game wihtout monthly fees (you only pay when you buy the game - after that, you won't have to pay anything).
However, you can't try it without buying."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident
"I never had the need to have a boner." -- Dissident
"I have never cut off my penis when I was upset over a girl." -- Dis

Oh well this looks like a good thread to ask for recomendations as well. I need a game as well. Been playing the hell out of City of Heroes/Villains. Looking to have a suplemental outlet for my addiction. Empire at War and Guild Wars are looking interesting but I'd like to see what you come up with.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
