A couple days after the acquisition of Spacek and Tarnstrom, I was talking to Calgary Flames GM-coach Darryl Sutter about the Oilers' defense and the transition it has made since last summer.
"When they added Pronger I thought they had arguably the best four-man group of defensemen in the NHL (with Pronger, Jason Smith, Steve Staois and Marc-Andre Bergeron)," Sutter said. "Now, it's even better and I have no doubt their six defensemen are clearly the best in the League."

You just showed more of Sutter's brilliance. He talks up interdivisional teams to fire up competitive spirit and win the battles with them.
This year Sutter told the team that they have to "keep up" with Vancouver and they were the team to beat.
It's the little things that make Sutter the coach MacTavish and Crawford will never be. They don't know how to use the psyche in their coaching styles.
In reality, we know just how good Edmonton's defense is. And that's reflected by them sucking still in defense. Turnovers, bad penalties, bad passing...it's awesome to watch as a Flames fan.
