I wouldn't mind doing the accounts for one, but I would not want to work in the factory from a safety viewpoint.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Building bombs requires lots of dangerous chemicals. It's an unhealthy job.

Walking down a street is unhealthy, too. Here, have some fumes.

My sister assembles the guided bombs that were used in the Middle East. The plant is closing down and operations moving elsewhere.

Why not? Well, the stuff they make kills civilians. It's unintentional but it's also a whole lot of civilians. Lots of people avoid defense because they can't live with that on their conscience.

You guys who do work on this stuff--does it bother you? How do you get around that?

I guess we're stuck with a gray area, as in all things political. Everything has a bad side. The Internet is used by terrorists. Missiles land in schools. People hang themselves with rope. No one has moral qualms about working in a rope factory. If you wanted to point fingers you could go on until you reach the guy that built the offending object, but what makes him responsible for the end result, since he had no control over it after it left his station?

Of course, people are welcome to (and will take them even if they're not welcome) their own opinions. I can certainly understand where pacifists are coming from here, but I can't say I share their viewpoint. (It doesnt help that none of them are speaking up any on this thread)

Smiley made an interesting point - he would work there, but not own stock in it. I don't see the difference there, though--either way you're aiding the manufacturing and taking profit from it. I could see either reasoning out why you could work there or not working there, but I don't know why you would only go halfway...

Safety nuts it's probably safer to work in a locked, tightly controlled and monitored factory than in the average restaurant where youll be robbed if you just wait long enough.
