The commentary on NHL.com is talking about shades of the Roy trade

The commentary on ESPN.com has realised how badly raped Colorado got on this deal.

Theo's a better goalie than Aebischer...when he's hot. Overall, Aebischer and Theo are just about equal in stats, with the edge going to Aebischer

a) Consistency is better in a goaltender than streakiness. At this point, I can say that I'd rather have Aebischer in net on any given day than Theo

b) Aebischer costs 40% of what Theo does. Good luck holding your team together, Avs

Ottawa gets Tyler Arnason from Chicago for Brandon Bochenski and a 2nd round pick.

- Islanders deal Oleg Kvasha to Phoenix for 3rd round pick

- Edmonton gets Sergei Samsonov from Boston for Marty Reasoner, 2nd round pick and a minor leaguer

- Calgary gets Jamie Lundmark from Phoenix for a draft pick (not sure what round)

I hear rumors that the Oilers are talking to Boston about Samsonov for Reasoner and a pick (some say it has happened, but I haven't seen it on any big sports page).

If you want to follow hockey properly, you need to use Canadian sources. We have three main all-sports networks, and during trade deadline day, they literally shut down everything else and broadcast the action non-stop all day. Their corresponding websites are good places for quick info:

Not that Stastny makes all that much difference, but still

6 stanley cups, won several other trophies. Was the first player in the NHL to use the slap shot.

His jersey was scheduled to be retired tonight. Now it will be a very emotional affair. His last wishes were for his entire family to be at the Bell Centre.
