MONTREAL (CP) - Montreal Canadiens goalie Jose Theodore has tested positive for a banned substance, the NHL team said Thursday.
But Theodore is using the substance - propecia - under doctor's care to promote hair growth, Habs team doctor David Mulder told a news conference Thursday. Mulder said the team learned on Jan. 14 that Theodore had tested positive. According to Mulder, Theodore has been taking the drug for "eight or nine years" at a dose of one milligram per day, and that the goalie didn't realize it contained a banned substance.
