  • Too calculative

That's me. I make too detailed plans, I research stuff way too much. I'm talking, of course, about my way to ultimate success... the money, the house, the ferrari, the strippers.

I know the missing component though.. I don't execute enough. I just make plans. I might take few first steps on any given plan, but then, I kind of start making new plans. It's important that I have realized this. I'm too much of a ... all around player, I need to focus on something to get me to my dream.

It's like this; I make a plan, I choose a field and focus on that for a while. Then as I see the goal diminishing, the opportunity getting smaller and the window closing, and this is mostly in my head and not facts, I make new plans. I never really go through them to see what would have happened. NOW, every now and then, I have to pound my head to the wall.. I should have followed that earlier thing through, what the hell happened, why did I take another path, that would have been golden now..

I'm having some problems, I need some professional coaching I feel like to keep me motivated on one or two things, and you know hopefully someone succesful who can tell me when I need that 'you're on the right path, don't change it now, don't think too much, execute your plan like you made it, don't start changing it now'.

I need to execute those plans now. The earlier I start, more chance I have making it. The more I just plan, the more days I will wake up as a poor person who has lots of dreams and nothing to show for it.

    Give me suggestions.

edit: and I don't know if it's part of the problem but I have always believed and still strongly believe, I feel it, sense it, almost smell it, that I will make it to my dream. You know so forgetting about it isn't an option, I've tried that. I just have this strong feeling like I've always had.. you know like you have about your good friends, that they're your friends and you can count on them. That kind of same feeling I have about it, it'll happen, it's just a question of how and when.

You won't make anything if you don't take a step after the planning.
You have the dreams, plan the reality.

You're right Sloww, and that's where I'm having the problem. It seems my mind isn't focused to do that. I'm a constant planner, I like making plans, I like researching, I like networking and dream about making it reality. If I start doing stuff, I'm not focused because I'm already planning something else. I need to .. I need a system where I can evaluate my plans realistically, by a third party, who knows their stuff, so I can prioritize where I can actually succeed with what I got and what I have planned, and that would give me motivation. Someone who is professional saying, "that's good I like that, now go do it", and then have some set points how I can measure my success rate and ETA to big time. If I don't have that, I get distracted and start posting here about how I prefer to poo and I get lost, because I can think of 1000 ways to poo.

I'm the guy who you can come up to and say 'give me 10 new ideas on this, you have 5 minutes'. I will deliver. Some of them are bad but something is good.

I'm the guy who you can come up to and say, ok, why don't you start executing this plan, and I'll get bored in 5 minutes.

Its trite but in the corporate world they say

I hate corporate talk. I think it's counter productive. It's like the worst mistake of business security; you have the hot new system that cost you a million bucks and now you think you are safe. And it's the exact opposite that you are, because it's about attitude and educating and updating the staff, not about what systems you are running.

Corporate talk is relying to phrases. As if it gives it more value. While it might give more value to what you say in certain circles, the message itself is deceptive, because it might bring the wrong message but you feel good about it anyway

You didn't read what Flubber wrote - there was no mention of any million dollar system.

Working in business and marketing strategy, my colleagues often make long and convoluted plans. My advice is keep it simple, the more complicated things are the more chances are things will go wrong

I think I have figured out what your problem is. You plan to go in one direction, and then goes straightly into another.

That actually also explains a lot of your postings

                          Don't plan, adapt.

A plan (your.. ah.. plan) never survives first contact with the enemy (life).

Set a general guideline. Then my favorite phrase. Adapt and overcome.

Its worked great for me so far!

Take your plan and break it down to a number of smaller goals.

Write your goals down on a list. Put the list everywhere you can see. Carry one in your wallet. Look at it frequently.

Alternatively, if you are willing to risk it, pair up with a doer. You plan, he or she executes.

This way, you can have another person looking at your plans, so flaws can be detected earlier.

However this is not easy. You need somebody you can absolutely trust, somebody who won't backstab you and take everything.

Donegal, you're one of those people who specialize. Which isn't bad per se. But Pekka here isn't a specialist. He's here to manage specialists and make sure that there's someone with understanding of the bigger picture to care about all of the people with narrow goals.

I'm his manager, contact me if you wish to hire him.
