Tied for second leading scorer among Canadian right wingers (and highest scoring of all RW on Team Canada). Bertuzzi has more points this year than Lecalvier, Smyth, Iginla, St. Louis, Doan, Nash and Draper among Team Canada forwards.

Team Canada had a lot of big, tough players that can camp infront of the net already (ie, Iginla), but can do so without dumb penalties.
What we needed was more youth and speed."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Right after the end of CZE-SVK, something funny happened: there were canadian fans selling their SF tickets, which means they went all the way from Torino Esposizioni to Palasport Olimpico just for getting rid of them
Too bad I didn't take a pictureI will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Was reading today's Calgary Herald, and the columnists were right on. They were saying exactly what I said when this roster was named, and I was criticized by people such as Tingkai for "knowing better than Gretzky". Apparently, it's true.
Holy ****, someone actually citing the Calgary Herald. Will wonders never cease.Golfing since 67

Your mantra of "youth and speed"/"Toronto sucks" is simply simplistic and wrong.
There were problems throughout the team, with the exception of Brodeur.
Pronger screwed up big time, causing the two Russian goals. He was screwing up throughout the Olympics. Blake was equally a problem. When the top two defencemen are screwing up, that creates a leadership gap for the blue line corp.
For the forwards, Rick Nash is young guy. He's fast. He didn't do much. Heatley is young and fast. So is Lecavalier and Richards.
The speed was there. Age was not a factor.
Besides, look at the players at the top of points in the Games: Hossa 25, Alffredson 33, Selenne 36, Lehtinin, 32 Koivu 33.
So much for the youth theory.
The big problem was they were all hesitating. The classic example was Richards with an open net, and he shovels it off in some kind of pass that ends up in going right to Nabokov. The hestitation makes them look slow and they were caught on their heels far to often.
And who was the leader? Which player stepped up to push the team? None.
Quinn and Hitchcock coached the gold metal team in Salt Lake City. So any criticism of what they did this time has to be compared to 2002. If they used seven defencemen in 2002 then it is unfair to say they should have used six defencemen in 2006.
Mind you I hope Quinn becomes the scapegoat. That will put more pressure on the Leafs to fire him.
What really pissed me off in the Russia-Canada games was the lousy reffing. There were so many bad penalties called against both teams, particularly in the first period. It just ruined the flow of the game.Last edited by Tingkai; February 23, 2006, 23:17.Golfing since 67

Sorry Tingkai, Canada lost because of a crappy coaching job and old players with no chemistry. The kids who were on fire were left at home.
McCabe and Big Bert should have stayed home as well. Pronger should not have played with a broken foot."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

What an insightful comment.
Only two of the top 10 scorers are under 25 (Gaborik and Hossa) while six are over 30, including two who are over 35.
Selanne is old and slow, yet he's ranked second in scoring.
So much for your youth theory.Last edited by Tingkai; February 24, 2006, 01:17.Golfing since 67

If we had a line of Crosby - Staal - Nash, we'd have won. If only because of Canadiana."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I don't care about the other teams. The simple fact is Gretzky dropped the ball with team selection, he picked a coach the guys wouldn't play for and a bunch of guys that can't play with eachother and are too old or injured to keep up.
Did you see the Russia game? We looked like we were in slow motion in comparison."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Yeah. We needed some serious doses of speed out there.
Not only did we get a bunch of slowpokes, it looked like they didn't give a **** until the last 10-15 minutes of the game.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET
