Az's rebuttal to c0ckney is correct, the NHS pays absolute peanuts unless you are a doctor...the problem is, there is a large layer of bureaucrats and contract companies profiteering off the organisation...

Figures. If you have contractors in such an organization, it can bleed you ****ing dry.

You don't need "efficiency". It should be by far and wide a self-contained system, otherwise, you get ****. bad ****.

plus, if you think that non-professional staff hirings are high, the last thing you want to do here is to create clerk armies that would write out paper reimbursements that they don't care about. They're doing absolutely nothing, it's cheaper to approve all regular treatment.

You only have to read the Margaret Thatcher thread. So many have got rich off the state...rail privatisation has been an absolute boon for the fat cats...the rail system is still shockingly poor yet train fares are extortionate...it costs me a lot less to drive up the country than to catch a train, and this country has one of the most expensive prices for petrol in the world! And get more than one person in a car...

And there is an element of this happening with the NHS. Contractors being hired in to take over tasks, for a cost. And this is before I start on PFI...leasing the hospitals rather than just building them themselves in the first place...just for a bit of creative accountancy...
