Read it, it's about the current state of the defense forces and the undeniable bad state of it. The material (men) is not bad, it's quite good, the bad is lack of resources, the lack of money. THe budget is so small that it can't renew itself into todays world and meet the requirements.

Everyone who knows about FDF can pinpoint certain trouble areas that are too costly in the event of a real war. The main problem is the attitudes of the citizens and politicians, who live in the laalaaland.

I don't want to write a monsterous OP so I let the discussion start and then I can move to problem areas and why it is so.

I don't know, not in a long time.. to fully pro army that is. We are having some new pro segments there, that are getting OK equipments and training though, but not enough those people still. More emphasis on that.

The landmine ban should be never signed from us. Until everyone else agrees on it. It does not benefit us.

Sure. I'm saying we should focus on strong pro stance too. I say we should make it volunteer based altogether, and make up some new units for pros. Focus on getting new fleets of fighter jets, and get our air **** together. Again, we have excellent material there, pilots, ranked at the very top even today, however we don't have enough them planes.

joncha, and we are not really neutral either. We haven't been in a long time. This is a fact, most will agree with this, regardless of their political affiliation.

they spend 4 billion francs a year in switzerland to assure our neutrality. Thats just under $3 billion US a year (for comparison, the farmers here get in direct aid about $2 billion a year, and when you add that to indirect aid, you get about $6 Billion a year)
