Then pray they're not running late, especially if you have to switch terminals. And be prepared for delayed luggage as well then.

Last time I passed by Heathrow going outbound, my luggage ran after me for 2 days to NZ, and it was a bit over and hour between flights.

And run for the customs queu then.

I'm not bringing my sticks so if I decide to check my bag, there will be nothing critical in it. I don't think I need a suit for this trip so a small bag may do it.

Translation: if I were you, I'd spend my layover in the toilet with a ghey flight steward.

You can't board a plane if you behave like a drunk. If you just fall asleep that means you'll be calm.

About five years ago I went to Mazatlan for spring break and the plane ride was a complete zoo. Imagine a plane full of college students leaving LAX at 5am. Now understand that it is an international flight so beer is free (liquor costs but still is relatively cheap).

They started handing out beers to people before the plane even took off and then after the flight got delayed for 9 hours in La Paz (a city in southern Baja) it just got worse. The air port in La Paz is out in the desert and far away from town and the only thing to do there was drink in the one bar.

By the time the 9 hour layover (the plane had mechanical problems) was done people had been drinking for 10 hours straight. There were college kids barfing on the plane and tons of people were getting disorderly. Through it all the flight crew just acted like this was the most normal way for people to act.

Coming back from the Bahamas once, it was storming in Chicago so they held us on the runway for a few hours. The opened all the door on the plane for fresh air and the pilot ordered extra cases of beer delivered to the plane, which were passed around for free. I normally hate being stuck on the runway, but it was a good party.

There's lots of good duty-free shopping in Heathrow. IMO, with only 4 hours it isnt worth your while to go out through security and then in again.

You dont unless you have to race to Gatwick (which I had to do one time - but managed to make my flight).

One of the biggest duty free liquor stores in any airport that I can recall.

Keflavik (Island) is nicer but not as big.

Would it be possible, say, for the Londoners to book a cheap-o one-way EasyJet ticket or something, just to get through to the other side, and then not actually catch the flight but just go back? It would have to be the same terminal though, I suppose...
