Dear Boann,
Take heart dear it will get better. I sit here today on the other side of what you are facing. I had a lump the size of a grapefruit removed off of my thyroid over 13 years ago and it was benign. The uptake scan did the same thing on me, and oh by the way didn't it just freek you out when the guy comes out in full protection armor suit and gloves, goggles and he hands you this pill in a metal container...here take this. I was thinking yeah, right you won't go near it but you want me to suck that puppy down!
It is truly scary when you are facing unknown test results and possible cancer but you have many many friends here who care about and for you and will send nothing but good thoughts your way. The needle biopsy isn't as bad as it sounds and isn't really painful just a tad uncomfortable. A bit like having a pelvic!
All they do is pull a bit of fluid off of the lumpy bumpy and see what they think if you need surgery. If you do, although scary, it isn't as bad as it sounds either. While surgery sucks at any time, the anticipation is always the worst part.
I will say prayers for you and wish your results to be and you are welcome to pm me or if you want to talk via email or anything else just to have someone to talk to whose been through it I'm available day or night any time just write or call. God speed and God bless.
