  • Staying informed on contemporary issues.

Are there any reputable websites with at least an ounce of integrity with the purpose of informing people of both sides of contemporary issues? Issues such as gun control, abortion, equal rights for gays, voting rights for children, and everything else under the sun?

I have seen books such as the Opposing Viewpoints series in libraries and have perused them in the past. But is anyone aware of a similar, Internet resource?

    Thank you for any help.

And then I sift through hundreds of search results to get past the blantantly political yes-men websites (liberal as well as conservative)?? Or I have to contend with the possibility of accidentally stumbling into a porno website of naked women called "Gun Control is Bad -- Unleash Your Penis?"

Are there not any good, comprehensive websites with links to the different contemporary issues that present viewpoints of both sides?

Strangely I find The Economist as being a great source of political information!

The Economist is liberal in the classical sense. Libertarian for you Yanks. So, all its articles have this bias.

Indeed. I got a year's subscription for Christmas, and love it. Part of that is the slant UR mentioned, but a lot of it is also due to the broad geographical range it covers. I've never paid attention, having free access with my print subscription, but I believe a good chunk of the material on economist.com is accessible without a subscription.
