Hmmm... Mobius, the post that Winston complained about and that got him restricted was that of a personal slander variety. If you look up the poly rules, it is a violation and grounds for restriction. Personally, I would have actually restriced them both (sorry Winston, you did personally insult him too) for violating forum rules.

I am not sure what the issue was with this last report, but... :shrug: , its his perogitive...

Well, in a sense I agree with you. But extreme , silly examples of political correctness don't mean the whole concept should be junked. There's nothing wrong with moderate political correctness.

Quite agree in the sense that real offenses should be dealt with, but some people takes it to the idiotic and actually prevents sensible actions against real problems because it is considered at same level as the jew cakes.

Well, you said the saying ****** is an offense, but Jew cakes is PC at its worse, after Sandman said calling people ****** is a question of PC. Of course it's a question of PC. We, as a society, have accepted that some PC is necessary (such as not calling black people ******s), but some is foolish (such as calling fat people "metabolism retarded people"). I think the line can be drawn quite clearly - ridiculing people - ridiculing beliefs . And yes, I know those are inseparably, but if you cannot ridicule beliefs, it's the same as saying you cannot discuss them seriously. And we have to have the power to ridicule beliefs to have a free society. However, we don't need to have the power to ridicule entire groups of people.

I guess that it is a question of naming. I consider "metabolism retarded people" as PC. By saying that calling someone a ****** isn't PC, I think it's dragging a serious matter down to a level where it certainly doesn't belong - I think that it is vastly more serious to call someone a ****** than it is to call someone fat.
