What is a 5.56mm round
Did you mean "what is it, a 5.56mm round"?
Not being an *******, just don't understand
If that was your question, then yes, it is a 5.56 mm caliber weapon, as is the m24912-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

The m249 and C9A1 are both modifications of the minimi produced by that big French arms firm (fg?)
EDIT: Fabrique Nationale, FN, and they're Belgian. I knew that.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

I was mistaken. I was thinking of the M249 and not the M240B.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

BTW that was a typo. I meant to say "Is it a 5.56?" Not what is a 5.56.

Just looked up the Wiki on the M249 and related weapons. Liked this part on effective range:
600 m, point target, fired from the shoulder/1,000 m area target; 800 m, area target, fired from the shoulder, point target, prone (U.S. Army doctrine)
400 m, point target/600 m area target, prone (Australian Army doctrine)

The helicopter stays afloat, and Danish naval ships have been directed to the area to help salvage the expensive helicopter before it sinks
As for salvaging the helicopter, sounds like the impoverished Danes need it more than us. You're welcome to it.
On a serious note, good to hear the crew survived.
The crew were rescued and aboard the Athabaskan within 10 minutes.
All the more amazing given that the Sea King sank within minutes.Last edited by Tingkai; February 3, 2006, 03:31.Golfing since 67

Well, my point was that an ordinary Canadian would have to chop down an awful lot of wood to pay for it.

You say it has sunk? How dreadful. Well at least they can't crash that one again for a while.
Losing it was probably the best option. ON an average basis these thinks take 40 hours of maintenance for every hour of flight time. We just need new choppers.
Oh and I wouldn't make too much fun of our military -- afetr all we operating off YOUR coast within range of your capitol. When was the last time you anes operated anything in close proximity to OUR capitol ?
