"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

SCAers are just bad live roleplayers with pretensions.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

It's no good (from an evolutionary point of view) to have the physique of Tarzan if you have the sex drive of a philosopher. -- Michael Ruse

      Just a slight generalization there

Also Ming doesn't seem all that pretentious.

I went through my SCA phase back in my youth. And I really can't complain since my wife was in SCA as well. However, I did meet her at a Science Fiction Convention and NOT a SCA event. Once I figured out we could party in real hotels for SF conventions, and not have to camp out with no running water for SCA events... the choice was easy, and I haven't been to a SCA event in YEARS!

If we are talking the same "SCA"... it stands for:

The Society of Creative Anachronism, a medieval reenacment group.

so the gaming society, anime society and SCA had a lot of members in common

I was not one of them, however

I have went to Ren Faire twice.. and think it is sor tof cool

and I enjoyed playing with the PVC pipe swords that oen fo the SCA guys had iin the gaming soceity (we woudl ge tin teams and go attack eachother... whatever body part that got hit you couldn't use.. head shots didn't count and body shots were death)
