The conservative and liberal coalition, that won the election in Sweden eight months later, said Sweden would give up our neutrality in case of a Russian counter-revolution in the Baltics. Today, I think even the Social Democrats would adopt that policy, despite some severe domestic disagreements in the late 80's and early 90's.

There were weekly lunch demonstrations in central Stockholm to support the Baltic liberation for several years before it happened, the five to tvelwe movement.

      Baltic liberation

In 1998, my wife and I hosted some Lithuanian teachers that where on a study/friendship trip to Sweden.

Yes.. Baltic region is very important to northern countries. At least to us it's continuance of the natural. Everything else is unnatural. Thus we must kill everything else.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I didn't think I'd see countries like Lithuania free in my lifetime, so look on the bright side.

I hope you have a memorial to these brave people who helped give you freedom.

I remember this. It seems so long ago.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I believe there's one next to the parliament and another near the TV tower, though they're both rather modest.
