    Americans are known for their geniality and hospitality...

    Germans for enjoying their beer. Russians for their brutality. Italians for their impeccable style. The Swedes for their austerity. The brits for their aristocratic kitchens. ( )

    I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck.       That map is anti-Finland -- they completely ignore it.
      A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

        The Finns are known for their pathological seriousness.

            Some prejudices are true...

            My grandfather would get in his car to travel a couple hundred feet. Pretty amazing.

            He probably didn't even have a car for the first decade or two of his life, but apparently he enjoyed the inevitable march of progress.
