Well, the British did bomb Finland. And Finnish merchants ships were sunk outside of the Baltic Sea. Also, every Finnish soldier fighting the USSR meant that one German soldier could be sent west to fight the Allies. Frankly, I'd be wary of predictions by realists in any case. Seeing as how realism has been just about totally discredited (see, the 'black box' for one major example, 'balance of power' for another, and plenty of alliances showing that countries will join together for more than short term gain), what they predict who will fight is irrelevant, IMO.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Well, there is the case of the democratic Allied countries declaring war at Finland in the 2nd Winter War, when that country joined Germany in its attack on the USSR. But that's a highly specific case, since Finland was attempting regain the territories it had lost in the previous Winter War (when Russia attacked Finland), and since the alliance between the USSR and democratic western countries was ungodly on its own.
