I think you're mixing apples and oranges.

It's not as if the 'bad guys' of 9/11 have shown they know how to use fuel laden transport as a weapon, eh?

The POTUS would make a lovely reminder, no? You wonder about highways shut down?

I'm not sure about Bush's ground security, but I'd be surprised if the Secret Service would allow a repeat of Reagan.

I'm sure he's crushed that you will not cast the vote that you cannot cast for his election that he cannot seek.

I think most people would be more distressed by the funeral.

a) I didn't say that I wouldn't vote for President Bush. Barring a change of citizenship and the US Constitution, that much is evident

b) Mrs Tubes is a citizen of the US, and was the one who was originally peeved by this

c) Are you saying that a pol should act more arrogant once he's a lame duck?

d) My post serves as warning to any politician listening both of my personal feelings and of the feelings of possibly a great number of others as to them grabbing special treatment for themselves.

No, bringing up Reagan to criticise my criticism of the overkill of US presidential security is out of place if you are then going to dismiss my comparison of the current situation with that in 1981 as comparing apples and oranges.

Your 'warning' is helpful, I am sure, but smacks a little bit of small dog, large yap. However, I will watch out for news of an election decided by security measures to protect the candidates.

You somehow think that more security for Bush on highways is out of place based on Reagan being shot by a member of the crowd.

With the risk of being shot here i dont think my peeves or any other things or out of place. I merely dont appreciate being shoved to the side of the road to wait one hour plus for this mans motorcade. I dont give a hoot who he is first of all if security is all that important put the man in a helicopter and fly his ass from point a to point be. He was at an airforce base for heavens sake and went to a military hospital that has a helipad. The distance from that hospital to the afb is aprox. 15 miles. The disruption was not only on the loop by my house but on a major interstate that this loop connects with. My main point being here all of the americans paid for this little jaunt to give a few purple hearts. And that if you put the fool in any car besides the dam motorcade nobody would have a clue he was in the said car. This trip wasnt a publicity stunt considering it was on two major hiways and every one was ushered off and forced to wait for a long time even after his motorcade passed so there wasnt any heavenly hanging out a window waving. I said before and i say now this was a big waste of money and lots of peoples time
